To honor Walter Lange’s lifetime achievements and his impact on the company and the watch industry, A. Lange & Söhne realized a watch he had long imagined but never saw completed: the limited‑edition 1815 “Homage to Walter Lange”. Based on a concept first devised by his great‑grandfather and patented in 1877, the watch incorporates an independently stoppable jumping center seconds alongside a separate small seconds display. Creating this new jumping‑seconds movement in less than a year was a major technical challenge, underscoring the workshop’s engineering skill in Glashütte. Named caliber L1924 as a tribute to Walter Lange’s birth year, the model’s reference — beginning with 297 — likewise references his birth date, 29 July.

Unveiled at SIHH in January 2018 and produced in limited runs of 145 pieces in white gold, this example is a New-Old-Stock accompanied by Lange Guarantee Seal dated Oct 2021, presentation box, and outer packaging.
